The topic of my presentation

In my presentation I will talk about the perception of the animals, but not just any kind of animals but it I will speak of those that are directly or indirectly inserted in certain cultures as companion, sacred or consumption animals. Regarding this, my position is that animals have categories and are perceived differently due to the enculturation processes that occur in each culture.

Although these processes are imperceptible to the majority of the population, they are also fundamental given that they give in the first socialization of human beings by shaping and modifying the conceptions  they have about animals.

This theme is mainly supported by examples, such as: the worldview on cow in Latin America and India. In the first, it is perceived as a consume animal and is naturalized through songs, advertisements, family, etc. In contrast, in the second it is perceived as a sacred animal due to religious teachings and stories.

In conclusion, animals are perceived, treated and categorized differently due to enculturation processes that cause certain actions to become naturalized as good or bad depended of culture. It should be added that there are also exception from the rule and may have individuals who think and conceive of animals in a completely different way to their society such as veganism in Chilean society.
